Just as an island is surrounded by the sea, so the marble encloses the wood. This is the common thread running through these units. Ekero is named after Oak Island, located just outside of Stockholm, where the creative director Tollgard grew up.
These modern side tables join the Archipelago collection, designed by the design duo Tollgard-Castellani. Sturdy bases in white Carrara marble or grey Carnico marble, symbolising the solid trunks of the island of Oak, support the tops made of solid Canaletta walnut via a central metal stem.
With a lively and expressive air, the tops are characterised by curved and elegant lines that recall stones smoothed by the waves. Just as the islands are shaped by the sea, each of these coffee tables for the living room has different shapes and sizes: round, square or oval with three different height configurations.
Staffan Tollgard was born in Stockholm and brings Scandinavian DNA to his designs with a focus on functionality, a key element in all his creations. Staffan is an internationally renowned and award-winning interior and product designer. He is the founder of three prestigious design stores in London where the best contemporary design brands are gathered. Very close to Porada’s corporate philosophy, he has been an integral part of the design team for some years now.
Filippo Castellani was born in Pisa, studied in Florence and graduated in Milan. A creative consultant and designer for several internationally renowned brands, his work ranges from the design of high-end and limited production items to consumer products. According to his conception, the essence of his design is informal, balanced, unconventional, defined, with attention to detail.
