Classy and essential with its measured proportions, the modern modular sofa Kirk, designed by Carlo Ballabio, is conceived to elegantly furnish all modern living rooms. The modular seating allows a clever arrangement in the various domestic settings, making the system extremely customisable. The leitmotif of the entire structure is the refined shaped base in solid Canaletta walnut, supported by precious Bronzoro metal feet, which allows the entire system to be integrated with balance in the various Porada collections.
The base gives the entire structure both classic and contemporary traits and embraces the seat and backrest with polyurethane padding foam to ensure high comfort.
The cushion covers are always removable and available in all the fabrics of the collection. A stitching, whose colour and material can either be tone-on-tone or in contrast with the main cover subtly runs along the perimeter of the sofa, elegantly outlining its shape and geometric pattern.
Since 2011 he has been in charge of product development director and designer at Porada. He was born in Cantù (Como) in 1967, in his twenties he studied at IPSIA G. Meroni of Lissone, near Milan, as a technician for the furniture and design industry.
In 1990 he obtained a master’s degree in Industrial Design at Instituto Europeo di Design in Milan. After graduation, Ballabio worked for the Paolo Nava design practice and then for Paola Navone as senior designer. During his career he designed many products, some of which can be found exhibited at the Triennale in Milano. For Porada he designed many of the most popular products, including the highly successful Ziggy collection. What makes its design unique is the steadily search for the perfect combination of aesthetics and functionality.
